Good Friday commemorates the suffering and death of Jesus, and we can only call it “good” because of His resurrection on the third day. Through His death on the cross, Jesus has redeemed us, through His blood and the forgiveness of our sin, from sin and death. We are justified, saved from the wrath of God, and reconciled to God (Rom. 5:9–10). This service is a solemn reminder of what Christ endured so that we might never be separated from God.
