Family Discipleship

At The Journey we believe parents are uniquely equipped by God to be the primary disciplers of their children. In the Old Testament, God instructs the Israelite parents to teach their children His commands;

““...These words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” (Deuteronomy 6:4-7, ESV)

In the New Testament Paul continues this instruction to parents in his reminder to fathers;

“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4, ESV)

Parents have been tasked by God with guiding their children to discover the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Christian Story. The good news is we don’t have to do it alone. God gave us the church to come alongside you in this Journey of Family Discipleship.
