Music

When you worship with us you can expect to sing a variety of music ancient and modern with the sound of music you would find on the radio. In fact, there are some Sundays you might hear the same song played that the DJs were just playing in your car.

Sometimes we are full band with rhythm guitar, drums, bass, and lead guitar; sometimes we kick it coffeehouse style with a more acoustic feel; and sometimes we even jazz it up or rock out or get the blues! We've not done hip-hop or salsa, but hey, if the Spirit leads...

At the journey we often sing hymns like Come Thou Fount, Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, and O' For 1000 Tongues to Sing but, as Mark likes to say, we do it in our own way, not with the organ that you might be used to! That is to say, although your grandma is welcome here, she might find some of her beloved hymnody being whistled to a different tune, and playing to the beat of, well, the journey band's drummer Derryck.  38070_425737551784_193419356784_4682854_6825055_n (Derryck and Son - Sam)

We also tap into our own MDUMC talent some Sundays, hearing the children sing, watching the Joyful Motion Children's Dance group lead us in liturgical dance, or hearing the worship leadership of one of our homegrown crew - like recent worship leader G.T. Mangum.
